Ozarks Genealogical Society Library

Commencing in 1979, the Ozarks Genealogical Library has offered a comprehensive collection of resources pertaining to the Ozarks region.  While our emphasis is on Greene County and southwest Missouri, we also have a secondary emphasis on states from which most early Missourians migrated. Computers and wireless Internet access are available to our patrons.

Some of the more popular research resources at our library include:

Books: Several thousand volumes containing indexes, transcriptions and abstracts of census, court, land, tax, probate, newspapers and other vital records. County records from every Missouri county and some adjoining states. Over 160 OGS publications including funeral home records and every known cemetery in Greene County. Search our catalog. Some books are at The Library Center on South Campbell.

Periodicals: Click here for a list of periodicals housed at the OGS Library. (Note list is being updated)

Special Collections: Twenty six collections containing family research files. Includes files created by professional genealogist Marsha Hoffman Rising for her 4-volume book series on the first 1,000 families to own land in southwest Missouri. Click here for index.

Microfilm: Missouri county records, military pension records, census records, and more. Click here for list.

Ozar'kin. Popular OGS quarterly with articles about the people who settled the Missouri Ozarks. Click here for Table of Contents.

Pedigree Charts: Over 1,100 pedigree charts submitted by OGS members containing over 25,000 names (indexed). Click here for index.

Surname Files: Correspondence, family group sheets and other research.

Digital Files: All OGS publications, over 1200 member pedigree charts, extensive area society newsletters, and over 115,000 area obituaries; completely searchable.

FamilySearch Collections: The OGS library is a designated FamilySearch Affiliate Library. Patrons logging into FamilySearch from the OGS library have access to digital genealogical collections that are otherwise accessible only through a Family History Center.

The OGS library is staffed by experienced volunteers. It is open to the public. OGS is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization and is supported solely through membership dues and donations.
